Years ago while watching "Almost Famous," I was struck by the scene in which protective mother Elaine Miller cautions Russell Hammond against corrupting her son--a naïve, budding journalist--while encouraging the rock star, " Now go, do your best. Be bold, and mighty forces will come to your aid. Goethe said that."
Those words resonate with me now as I take this incredible leap of faith--an elegant way of describing that state of being totally out of control like walking naked through a crowd or jumping without a parachute off the highest cliff but yet somehow certain of a path bigger than you can ever imagine. Although I've been dreaming of this possibility for many years, I find myself now making it a reality.
July 2018, I turned 50 and challenged myself with 50 adventures during the year. I've experienced so many amazing people, places, and things. However, two events impacted me the most this year--the death of my lovely friend Karissa Stewart and an accident on that same January day when a car, running the red light, totaled mine, leaving me shaken but alive and unharmed. These experiences made me realize that life is indeed too short for regret and when you are given a chance, you should absolutely take it.
So, it's now time for me to be bold and take my chance. I hope you will dare to dream with me as I open the doors to Studio South, creating a community for hand-crafters and a space to change someone's world one stitch, one stroke, one smile at a time.
