Description:   The first Saturday of each month the studio will be open to spinners to make their own yarn.  Bring your work for an afternoon of fiber fun and fellowship.  This is not an instructional class, just time & space to make your own magic.  Roving & drop spindles can be bought at the studio.
Skill:  adults of all levels
Cost:  $30 annual dues
Requirements:   basic knowledge of and equipment for spinning either with a drop spindle or wheel                    ​

                   Just 5 ingredients in 45 minutes
Description:   This workshop begins with the chemistry of baking bread, continues by creating starters, and ends with a sampling of homemade bread. All domestic artists will leave with the secret to making this rustic country loaf, recipe, and their own starters to take home to bake the next morning.
Skill Level:   beginners 
Cost:  $30 includes instruction, recipe, & starter to be baked the next day           
Class Requirements: 1 gallon container with lid to be brought to class for your starter and 1-2 quart cast iron pot with lid for next day's bread baking magic.

Description:   This workshop teaches new fiber artists the basic skills of crochet.  We begin with a brief overview of this ancient fiber art and the first two steps:  slip knot and chain.  We continue by learning a modified half double stitch and growing a new row and conclude the workshop with weaving in tails for a finished piece. All cottage artists will leave with a swatch and the knowledge of the essentials for most crochet projects.

Description: The workshop begins with a short lesson on the basics of needlefelting.  Then, fiber artists will get crafty creating their own projects: patches, bookmarks, craft bags, or pillows. All artists leave the studio with knowledge of this fiber art, an original piece of artwork; and a sense of community with their fellow artists.
Skill Level:    beginners-advanced
Cost:   $15-$40 includes instruction, supplies, fun, & fellowship with other crafters 
Requirements:  Bring to class design ideas, or specialized stencils & embellishments like coordinating fabrics, ribbon, buttons...if there is something specific you would like to design.

Description:   This workshop teaches emerging fiber artists the art of circular crochet.  We begin with a brief overview of this ancient fiber art and the first step:  the magic circle.  We continue by learning a modified half double stitch in the round and making a beanie.  All cottage artists will leave with the knowledge of the magic circle and crocheting in the round.
Skill Level:   beginner (must know how to slip knot, chain, single, & double crochet) 
Cost:  $45 includes yarn for swatch, instruction, fun, & fellowship            
Class Requirements: yarn (lightweight like cotton) and appropriate hook for yarn

Description:   This workshops focuses on the top down knitting method for better fit and to ease of completion, not another UFO at the bottom of your closet. We begin with a brief overview of the construction of a seamless garment and continues with knitting the yoke in the round. Then, we continue with a demonstration of picking up sleeves & finishing work such weaving in tails and blocking. All cottage artists will leave with the knowledge of knitting a fitted, the beginning of a sample seamless sweater (size 0-6 months).  This is the perfect project to make with your stash yarn.
Skill Level:    intermediate
Cost:   $45 includes instruction & pattern
Requirements:  1 ball (220 yds) of worsted yarn;  circular needles (sized appropriately for yarn) with both 16 & 24 in. tethers; set of 4 double pointed needles (sized appropriately for yarn), stitch markers, row counter, & stitch holder or waste yarn

Description:   This workshop teaches the new fiber artist the basic steps of knitting a pair of slippers without double pointed needles. We begin with understanding Yuko Nakamura's Non-Felted Slipper pattern and continue knitting the slipper. We conclude with sewing the project. All fiber artists will leave with one completed slipper and the knowledge of this well-crafted, clever pattern to create the second on their own.

Description:   The workshop begins with explaining how artists make prints.  Then, artists will etch a skyline into their printing plates with a stylus and add ink with a brayer.  They will transfer their print to paper, creating their masterpieces. All artists leave the studio with an understanding of a printmaking technique, an original piece of artwork; and a sense of community with their fellow artists.
